MRI & CT scanner movers with rigging coordination and white-glove delivery

MRI scanner moving with rigging, crane, and de-installation coordination. We manage cryogen and magnet logistics with your OEM and biomed team for safe MRI relocation.

How we move mri machines

MRI machines are expensive to replace and slow to reorder, so how they travel matters. RapidMed Logistics handles this category end to end, including MRI scanner relocation & rigging coordination, for hospitals, imaging centers, surgery centers, clinics and labs. Whether you call it mri movers, mri relocation or mri scanner transport, the plan starts the same way: we confirm the make and model, weight, dimensions and any manufacturer packing requirements, then check the route at both ends, from dock height and door widths to elevators and stairs. On moving day the equipment rides alone on a dedicated air-ride, climate-controlled vehicle, blanket-wrapped and strapped at secure points, loaded by liftgate and kept upright. Pickup is same-day across Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC and North Carolina, with next-day national coverage and international air and ocean freight when the destination is overseas. At delivery, a 2-person or 3-person white-glove crew brings the equipment inside, sets each piece in the room you choose and removes packing debris, and we coordinate timing with your biomed team or the manufacturer's installer.

RapidMed Logistics provides dedicated, expedited transport for mri machines with full white-glove handling — inside delivery, exact room placement, debris removal, and installation coordination. Every move is padded, secured, shock-monitored, and tracked door to door.

MRI and CT equipment moving: how the work is split

MRI and CT equipment moving is a team effort. The manufacturer or a rigging contractor de-installs and re-installs the scanner, and handles the magnet and any cryogen work. We coordinate our arrival with them, then transport the components on a dedicated, air-ride, climate-controlled vehicle and bring them inside to the room.

CT gantries and tables are heavy and sensitive, so they ride upright, secured at approved points and away from cables and covers. Planning starts with the make, model and weight of each component and a look at the route, including door widths, elevators and floor loading. See the separate CT scanner page for details on CT-only moves.

MRI machines moving — FAQs

How do you transport mri machines?
MRI scanner moving with rigging, crane, and de-installation coordination. We manage cryogen and magnet logistics with your OEM and biomed team for safe MRI relocation. Our 2-man and 3-man white-glove crews handle inside delivery, room placement, and installation coordination.
How fast can you move mri machines?
We offer same-day and next-day hot shot pickup across Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, and North Carolina, with national and international freight available. Call 866-216-7742 24/7.
Do you handle mri machines installation and de-installation?
Yes. We coordinate de-installation, rigging, and installation with your OEM or biomed team and manage unit-for-unit exchanges so new equipment is placed as the old unit ships out.
Do you offer MRI and CT equipment moving together?
Yes. MRI and CT equipment moving is often planned together for an imaging suite, and one dedicated vehicle can carry components for both when the schedule allows. The manufacturer or rigging contractor handles de-installation and installation while we handle transport and inside delivery.
Do you handle the magnet and cryogen work on an MRI move?
No. Magnet and cryogen work stays with the manufacturer or a qualified rigging contractor. We coordinate our timing with them and transport the equipment on a dedicated vehicle.

How moving MRI machines works with RapidMed Logistics

How moving MRI machines works

Moving MRI machines starts with a short call or a quote request. Tell us the make and model, the pickup and delivery addresses, the dimensions and weight, and any access limits such as stairs, elevators or a loading dock. We confirm the truck type, the crew size and the pickup window, then dispatch a hot shot vehicle that runs direct from pickup to delivery with no terminal stops.

MRI relocation is a coordinated project. The OEM or a qualified rigging contractor handles the magnet and cryogen side, and we plan the truck, the rigging path and the delivery window around that schedule.

On arrival the crew checks the path, protects floors and walls, moves the equipment to the room you choose and removes the packing material. Photos and a signed delivery receipt close out the move.

How to prepare your MRI machines for transport

  • Confirm in writing whether the manufacturer (OEM) or a certified biomedical engineer must de-install and re-install the unit, and book them before the pickup date.
  • Back up data, then remove or wipe protected health information so the move stays HIPAA-compliant.
  • Clean and decontaminate the unit, drain fluids and remove consumables, and keep a record that it was done.
  • Have the OEM or qualified service team manage the magnet ramp-down and any cryogen work; nothing is moved until they sign off.
  • Measure doors, corridors and elevators, and confirm whether a crane or other rigging is needed at either end.
  • Plan the receiving room, RF shielding and power in advance so installation can start when the unit arrives.
  • Secure or remove loose parts, cables and accessories, and label everything so it can be matched to the unit at delivery.

What is included when we move MRI machines

  • Air-ride suspension trucks that cut road shock and vibration for imaging, lab and electronic equipment.
  • Climate-controlled cargo space for heat-, cold- and humidity-sensitive electronics, optics and supplies when you need it.
  • White-glove inside delivery by a trained 2-person or 3-person crew: path protection, placement in the room and removal of packing material.
  • Hot shot and STAT service: a direct, point-to-point run with no terminal transfers when equipment is down and patients are waiting.
  • Photos at pickup and delivery, a bill of lading that lists every piece and a chain-of-custody manifest.
  • A certificate of insurance on request, with the declared value confirmed before pickup rather than after.

Frequently asked questions

Does the manufacturer need to be involved when moving MRI machines?
Yes. MRI systems should not be moved without the manufacturer or a certified service provider, because the magnet, cryogens and shielding all have specific procedures. We plan the transport around their schedule.
How should I prepare MRI machines for pickup?
Confirm who handles de-installation, back up data and remove patient information, then clean and decontaminate the equipment and secure loose parts. Have the OEM or qualified service team manage the magnet ramp-down and any cryogen work; nothing is moved until they sign off.
Can you move MRI machines the same day?
We run same-day and next-day hot shot pickup across Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC and North Carolina, and national and international freight is available. Call 866-216-7742 any time, 24/7.
What does inside delivery include for MRI machines?
A trained 2-person or 3-person white-glove crew protects the path, brings the equipment to the room you choose, sets it in place and removes the packing material. Installation and calibration are coordinated with your OEM or biomedical team.
Is air-ride or climate-controlled transport available for MRI machines?
Yes. Air-ride suspension reduces road shock and vibration, and climate-controlled cargo space protects temperature-sensitive electronics and supplies. Tell us what the equipment needs when you request the quote.
